Часто задаваемые вопросы (FAQ)

What is Ideal Body Weight?

Ideal body weight (IBW) is a clinical estimate of the most healthy weight for a given height and gender. It is used by healthcare professionals for drug dosing, anesthesia, ventilator settings, and general health benchmarking. However, it is not a one-size-fits-all answer.

The 4 Clinical Formulas Compared

  • Hamwi (1964): The oldest and most commonly referenced. Used in clinical settings worldwide.
  • Devine (1974): Originally developed for medication dosing. Widely used in pharmacology.
  • Robinson (1983): A modified Devine formula, producing slightly different results for each gender.
  • Miller (1983): Generally produces the lowest (lightest) estimate of the four formulas.

IBW vs. BMI vs. Body Fat %

IBW formulas don't account for muscle mass or body composition. A muscular athlete may weigh more than their IBW while having an excellent health profile. Body fat percentage is a more accurate health indicator than weight alone.
